The Eight: cocktails on the 8th floor
A terrace above the city-centre rooftops
The Bedford is a large conference hotel on Rue du Midi, a few minutes' walk from the Grand-Place. Its top floor, the eighth, is home to The Eight, a cocktail bar opening onto a long wooden terrace. The view spans 180 degrees: the spire of the Town Hall rises above the rooftops of the historic centre, and the dome of the Palace of Justice stands out a little further away. When it rains or turns cold, the indoor room lets you enjoy the view in the warm.
House cocktails and sharing plates
The bartenders create their own signature drinks, often fruity or spicy, alongside the great classics and alcohol-free cocktails, not to mention Belgian beers and a long list of gins and rums. You can also eat: olives and charcuterie and cheese boards, tapas to share, burgers, pizzas, main courses and desserts. The atmosphere is relaxed, with carefully designed lighting in the evening, making it a popular spot for after-work drinks as well as for starting the night.
Good to know
The bar is in high demand on fine evenings: booking a table online saves waiting. The entire terrace can also be hired for a private event, in addition to the hotel's meeting rooms.
