Akai: sushi and cocktails on the 30th floor
At the top of the Cardo hotel
Located in the Cardo Brussels hotel, part of the Autograph Collection, Akai occupies the 30th floor of a tower on Avenue du Boulevard, a stone's throw from Place Rogier in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode. As soon as the lift doors open, the city appears behind the windows. The décor plays on deep red: velvet banquettes and armchairs, a mirrored ceiling, plants and soft lighting. The space is divided into a main dining room, a lounge, a bar counter and a high table. This is a glass-walled room high above the city rather than an open-air terrace.
Japan meets the Mediterranean
The menu pairs Japanese precision with Mediterranean flavours: nigiri, maki and sashimi, miso black cod, nori tacos, sea bass ceviche, wagyu rib steak and matcha tiramisu. Vegetarians are well catered for with agedashi tofu, miso-glazed aubergine and charcoal-grilled vegetables. At the bar, cocktails showcase sake, yuzu, Japanese gin and Haku vodka.
From dinner to lounge
Dinner begins in an intimate atmosphere, then the music gradually builds: a DJ on Thursday evenings, with the Rewind night devoted to the 70s, 80s and 90s, then from 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Those who prefer a quiet meal should book between 6pm and 9pm. Groups can enjoy dedicated menus and tailor-made private events.
