MOOONS Rooftop Bar: stars above Vienna Central Station
A rooftop right by the Hauptbahnhof
The MOOONS hotel, recognisable by its façade of large porthole windows, stands on the Wiedner Gürtel, directly opposite Vienna Central Station. Its roof, on the 11th floor, is home to a terrace completely open to the sky: lounge areas with pale sofas, woven armchairs, potted olive trees and a long bar with golden reflections. The neighbourhood, less touristy than the centre, offers a different perspective on the city.
The panorama stretches far: the rooftops of Wieden and Favoriten, the neo-Gothic bell tower of a nearby church, the modern towers that have sprung up around the station and, on the horizon, the hills of the Vienna Woods. The view is especially stunning at sunset.
Mixology at aperitif hour
The drinks list is the venue's strong point: creative, carefully made cocktails, fresh and fruity alcohol-free cocktails, Bellinis and champagne, served with a short snack menu. The atmosphere remains relaxed and urban, perfect for after-work drinks or a first round before catching a train.
A summer terrace
As the terrace is entirely open-air, it only opens in the warmer months, from May to September, and stays closed in bad weather. Reservations are not possible: seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
