Limón: the Riviera on the rooftops of the Ring

An eighth floor in the colours of the South

Limón occupies the top of the Grand Ferdinand, a hotel on the Schubertring, a few steps from the Stadtpark. During the day, the floor is reserved for hotel guests; from Tuesday to Saturday, in the late afternoon and evening, it opens to everyone. The room plays the colour card: red walls, tufted banquettes, light-coloured tables, lemon trees and green plants, golden lanterns lined up along the wall.

Outside, the terrace lines up its red-and-white striped armchairs along a glazed balustrade overlooking the tree-lined boulevard. The view sweeps over the rooftops of the centre and the façades of the Ring, with the city's modern towers on the horizon; the show is especially successful after dark, when the lights of the avenue come on.

Food to share and Italian-style aperitivo

The menu draws on Italy, France and Spain, with plates designed to be shared in the middle of the table, as at a family meal. At the bar, the aperitivo is king: spritzes of all kinds, Negroni and Americano served from a Campari trolley, classics such as the Espresso Martini or the Margarita, and a selection of Italian, Spanish and French wines, including several rosés by the glass. For nibbles, toasted focaccia, burrata, ham croquetas or a charcuterie and cheese board go nicely with a drink.

Practical information

Open to the public Tuesday to Saturday, generally from 5pm until 11pm or midnight; closed Sunday and Monday, hours to be checked before visiting. The terrace is best enjoyed in fine weather, while the room welcomes guests all year round. Expect to pay €14–18 for a cocktail and €11–14 for a spritz. Smart casual dress.
