Cavaña: Latin America on the 17th floor
Two lounges, two terraces
The bar sits at the top of the LUMA Hotel, on Channel Street, between the Chase Center and the Giants' ballpark. Inside, two lounges overflow with tropical plants, cane chairs and patterned ceramic tiles. Outside, two terraces share the views: to the north, a 180-degree panorama of Oracle Park, the bay and the downtown towers; to the south, an open view of the waterfront and the southern part of the bay. Fire pits and heaters help take on the wind and fog, common in the evening in San Francisco, but a jacket is still welcome.
Agave and sugarcane
The name combines agave and caña, sugarcane, the two families of spirits that dominate the menu. You can sip a caipirinha made with cachaça, a Pisco Punch with soursop, a Banano with rum, banana milk and cold brew coffee, or milk-clarified creations like the Kiwi; expect to pay $15 to $22 a cocktail. The kitchen follows the same route: guacamole, rockfish ceviche with leche de tigre, Baja-style fish tacos, quesabirria tacos, grilled octopus or rib eye and potatoes. On Friday and Saturday nights, DJs spin Latin music, and salsa afternoons take place on some Sundays.
The lounges and terraces can be booked privately for 30 to 80 guests, depending on the space.
