Between a glass-walled lounge and a terrace
Set on the hotel's top floor, on 4th Street, Shelby's is split between an indoor room with large picture windows, a more intimate mezzanine and a long, partly covered terrace furnished with sofas, woven poufs and lanterns. The view stretches toward Salesforce Tower, the towers of the Financial District and the rooftops of SoMa, and is at its most striking at nightfall, when the city lights up. The indoor room lets you stay sheltered when fog and wind roll in during the evening.
Signature cocktails and food from morning to night
The cocktails, $21 to $26, draw heavily on agave: the Caribbean Queen with reposado tequila, La Bamba with mango and habanero pepper, Kiss from a Rose with mezcal and watermelon syrup, or a Negroni aged in-house. Wines by the glass run $15 to $36. The venue serves breakfast as well as lunch and dinner: octopus with paprika, bluefin tuna tartare, a prosciutto and burrata flatbread, then heartier dishes such as braised short rib. On weekends, brunch puts the spotlight on a truffle croque madame, kaya French toast and the house Bloody Mary.
The lounge and mezzanine can be booked privately for corporate meetings or parties.
Practical information
Open daily from 6:30am for breakfast; lunch on weekdays from 11am to 2pm, brunch Saturday and Sunday from 10:30am, afternoon and evening menu until 10:15pm. Online reservations are strongly recommended: the venue runs almost exclusively on reservations. Yerba Buena/Moscone station (Muni Metro T line) is right at the foot of the hotel, and Powell Street station (BART) is 500 meters away.
