Rooftop 25: wood-fired pizza on a SoMa rooftop
The top level of 25 Lusk
Since 2010, 25 Lusk has occupied a former meatpacking building in SoMa, restored across three levels: a basement bar, a large dining room and, at the very top, this roof of about 325 square meters, entirely open-air. Wood decking, long tables, steel pergolas and string lights make for a simple, bright setting. Since the building is low-rise, the view is a neighborhood one: brick rooftops, nearby lofts and, in the distance, the outline of Salesforce Tower and the downtown towers. The roof is heated, glass panels block the wind and retractable shades cover some of the tables, a real plus on foggy afternoons.
A menu made for sharing
You order at the counter: Neapolitan pizzas fresh from the wood-fired oven ($15 to $18), pretzel bites, Calabrian chili chicken wings, a Maine lobster roll or short rib for bigger appetites. All cocktails are $16, from the Spicy Passionfruit Margarita to the Maple Rye Old Fashioned, alongside California beers, wines by the glass and nonalcoholic drinks. The music is upbeat and the vibe unpretentious, ideal for an after-work drink or one before a Giants game.
The rooftop can be booked privately for receptions of up to 125 guests.
