The Skylark: a 30th-floor lounge facing the Empire State Building
Glass-walled lounges and a roof deck
At 200 West 39th Street, on the corner of 7th Avenue, The Skylark occupies the 30th floor and the roof of a Garment District building. The main lounge, with its bar and floor-to-ceiling windows, faces the Empire State Building, Hudson Yards and Times Square, where you can spot the famous New Year's Eve ball. Several more intimate spaces, The Den and The Living Room, extend the venue over several levels, from quiet nooks to big group tables.
Just above, an open-air roof deck of about 150 square meters opens up views of the Hudson and the Midtown skyscrapers. It's weather-dependent and can be booked for private events: in winter, the glass-walled lounge is the safe bet.
Reimagined classics and "dinner by the bite"
The bartenders rework the great classics using fresh ingredients; signature cocktails are $22, such as The Skylark (gin, vodka, aperitif and grapefruit) or More Passion, More Energy (rum, mint, passion fruit and sparkling wine). The "dinner by the bite" menu lines up options for snacking or a light dinner: guacamole, mezze, flatbread, sliders, tuna tacos, lamb chops or steak frites. The venue also hosts weddings, corporate parties and birthdays.
Practical information
The Skylark is open to the public Monday through Friday from 5pm; on Saturdays and Sundays, it's reserved for private events. Reservations are available online, it's 21+ only, and business or smart casual attire is recommended. Subway: Times Square–42nd Street (1, 2, 3, 7, N, Q, R, W and S trains) or 42nd Street–Port Authority (A, C and E trains).
