Florentín Rooftop Bar: the Mediterranean above Spring Street
A spot worth seeking out
The entrance takes a bit of finding: at 617 South Spring Street, you cross a parking lot and then an alley to a door marked with a neon flower and a hard-to-miss green sign; an elevator then takes you up to the roof, on the 8th floor. Up top, a wooden deck and a large louvered pergola shelter banquettes, armchairs and planters. On one side, the view takes in the skyscrapers of the Financial District; on the other, the ornate facades of the Historic Core's old buildings, close to Broadway's old theater district. In the evening, string lights take over.
Fruity cocktails and pizzas to share
The cocktail menu draws on a Mediterranean spirit: the Florentiní (gin, cucumber, green tea, mint) and the Prickly Pear Hibiscus Marg run around $19 to $20, while the Mango Sticky Rice Milk Punch, made with rum and coconut milk, goes up to $21. The “House Special,” a Mexican beer with a shot, stays at $14, and almost every cocktail can be made alcohol-free. To go with them, the kitchen serves artisanal pizzas on house-made dough, a trio of dips, a charcuterie board and a few salads.
The rooftop can be booked privately for a party, a corporate event or an entire evening.
