173 Rooftop Terrace: Montjuïc and Barcelona from the roof of the InterContinental
A roof at the foot of Montjuïc
The InterContinental Barcelona hotel stands on Avinguda de Rius i Taulet, between Plaça d'Espanya and the slopes of Montjuïc, very close to the Magic Fountain, the Poble Espanyol and the Fundació Joan Miró. Its roof, on the seventh floor, is home to the 173 Rooftop Terrace: an open-air bar and restaurant set around an infinity pool, with sun loungers, parasols and Balinese beds.
From the Palau Nacional to the Sagrada Família
On one side, the view stretches towards the dome of the Palau Nacional, home to the MNAC, and Montjuïc hill; on the other, it sweeps over the city's rooftops as far as the spires of the Sagrada Família and the hills that close off the horizon. The show is at its best at sunset.
Cocktails, tapas and music evenings
At the bar, the great classics (spritz, margarita, negroni, espresso martini…) are priced at €16 or €17 and the house creations at €18. On the food side, Mediterranean dishes are made for sharing: hand-carved Iberian ham, Andalusian-style calamari, patatas bravas or burgers. On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, set offers pair a gilda with vermouth or tacos with beer. In the warmer months, concerts set the rhythm of the week (rumba on Tuesdays, soul on Thursdays, live music on Saturdays) and, in 2026, a pop-up restaurant served candlelit dinners on the terrace every evening. For a swim, a day pass gives access to the pool, with a Balinese bed option.
The hotel's two terraces can also be booked for a private event.
Practical information
The 173 Rooftop Terrace is a seasonal bar that reopens every year when the fine weather returns; in September and October, the music sessions continue on Saturdays from 7pm to 9pm. Tables can be booked online. Espanya metro (lines L1, L3 and L8) is about 500 metres away.
