V Rooftop Bar: a hanging garden facing the castle
The discreet roof of the Vintage Hotel
The Vintage Hotel & Spa occupies a building on Rua Rodrigo da Fonseca, in the neighbourhood that links the top of Avenida da Liberdade with Príncipe Real. On the top floor, V Rooftop Bar takes the form of an intimate terrace, laid out like a vertical jungle: potted palms, green plants, wooden sofas and armchairs beneath large shade sails.
The view stretches across the tiled roofs to the hill of São Jorge Castle, and is particularly beautiful when the golden light of late afternoon strikes the city.
Cocktails that tell the story of Lisbon
The signature cocktails, mostly priced at €14, pay tribute to the city: Miradouro Sunset with gin and limoncello, Golden Tram with Irish whiskey, Smoked Ruby with mezcal and ginja. The menu also offers spritzes, a Port tonic, alcohol-free cocktails at €9 and a selection of small plates to go with your drink.
The roof sometimes changes character in the morning, when it hosts yoga sessions announced in the hotel's events calendar, before returning to its usual service.
Practical information
The bar is open every day from noon to midnight; last orders are taken at 10pm for food and at 11.15pm for drinks. As the terrace is small, booking is recommended for sunset. Address: Rua Rodrigo da Fonseca, 2. Rato metro (yellow line) is a few minutes' walk away.
