Ferroviário: the Tagus from the rooftops of Santa Apolónia
A long-standing terrace brought up to date
Opposite Santa Apolónia station, between Alfama and the port, Ferroviário occupies the roof of a building on Rua de Santa Apolónia. This place, long familiar to Lisbon locals, was renovated and then taken over by Grupo Champ, which reworked both the food and the atmosphere.
The terrace is its heart: wicker tables and lights, cushions, lots of plants and a covered area for dinner. The eye travels over the quays to the estuary, very wide at this point, where ships pass by, with the south bank on the horizon.
Sharing dinners and lively evenings
The menu focuses on quality produce and dishes designed for sharing, whether for a quick bite, a proper dinner or simply a drink facing the river. During the week, the atmosphere stays relaxed and suited to long meals; at the weekend, it goes up a notch and the evening runs late.
The venue also hosts group dinners, birthdays and corporate evenings, with tailor-made food and drink packages. In fine weather, the programme may include live music and open-air film screenings.
