LuminAir: the bar above Amsterdam
On Oosterdokseiland, facing the old centre
LuminAir occupies the 11th floor of the DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station, on Oosterdokseiland, a few minutes' walk from Central Station. A lift goes straight up to this hotel bar, which is open to everyone and extends onto a terrace. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, the view takes in the rooftops of the historic centre, the domes of the Basilica of St Nicholas, the station and the Oosterdok basins.
Inside, the décor plays on the sky: a cloud-shaped installation runs across the ceiling and light projections change the atmosphere as the evening goes on. The venue was named Best Hotel Bar 2025 at the HBMEO Best Hotel Bar Awards, after winning Best New Cocktail Bar at the Entrée Awards 2024.
Cocktails inspired by reflections
The signature menu, “Wonders of Reflection”, brings together eight creations inspired by reflections photographed around the world by Joep Hijwegen, from the Salar de Uyuni to Lake Motosu. Every cocktail also comes in an alcohol-free version. On the food side, small international plates and sharing platters accompany the drinks; afternoon tea (€49 per person) and lunch are served Friday to Sunday.
An evening that picks up the pace
DJs regularly take to the decks, with themed nights on Fridays and Saturdays. At weekends the bar stays open until 3am, with a late-night menu. For a special occasion, VIP tables with dedicated service can be booked.
Practical information
Open Monday and Tuesday 5pm–midnight, Wednesday until 1am, Thursday until 2am, Friday and Saturday noon–3am, Sunday noon–midnight; occasional exceptional closures are announced on the website. Book online or on +31 20 5300 875, though you can also just walk in. Expect to pay €19–22 for a signature cocktail. The Oosterdok public car park is beneath the hotel; Central Station is a few minutes' walk away.
