Gabrielli Rooftop Terrace: the lagoon from the sixth floor

A palazzo reopened on the Riva degli Schiavoni

The Hotel Gabrielli occupies a historic palazzo on the Riva degli Schiavoni, the long waterfront that runs from St Mark's Square towards the Arsenale and the Biennale Gardens. After a lengthy restoration, it reopened at the end of August 2025 under the Starhotels Collezione banner. Right at the top, on the sixth floor, a terrace of around 150 m² dressed in brick-red tones houses a bar and a light menu served all day.

The view takes in the whole basin: the island of San Giorgio Maggiore and its campanile directly opposite, the dome of Santa Maria della Salute and Punta della Dogana to the right, St Mark's Campanile above the rooftops, the Lido on the horizon and the Arsenale to the east. At dusk, the sun sinks behind the Salute and the roofs of the centre: the evening aperitivo is the most sought-after moment.

Cicchetti, cocktails and Venetian cuisine

The menu plays the local card: an assortment of six Venetian cicchetti, cuttlefish ink risotto, cuttlefish in prosecco with polenta, salads, a burger and a lobster roll. For drinks, you'll find the great classics of the lagoon, from the spritz (€19) to the white peach Bellini in season (€28), as well as a selection of wines by the glass. Prices are those of a five-star hotel, with a cover charge of €16 per person.

Practical information

The terrace operates in the warmer months: its reopening for the summer was announced in early May 2026. It is then open every day from noon to 11pm, with food served until 10.30pm. No reservations are taken: you simply turn up and sit down depending on availability, hence the advantage of arriving before sunset. The hotel is about ten minutes' walk from St Mark's Square along the waterfront; the Arsenale vaporetto stop is very close by.
