Terrazza Danieli: St Mark's Basin at your feet
The roof of a 15th-century palazzo
A few steps from the Doge's Palace and St Mark's Square, the Danieli occupies three interconnected palazzi on the Riva degli Schiavoni, including Palazzo Dandolo, built in the 15th century. After a lengthy restoration, the hotel reopened on 30 July 2026 as Danieli, Venezia, A Four Seasons Hotel. Its panoramic restaurant, Terrazza Danieli, has been redesigned in pastel, azure and gold tones, with mirrors that reflect the light of the lagoon; the outdoor terrace echoes the terracotta hues of the façade.
A picture-postcard view
From the picture windows and the terrace, the eye sweeps across St Mark's Basin and its boats towards the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Punta della Dogana and the dome of Santa Maria della Salute, while the Gothic corner of the Doge's Palace rises close by. At sunset, the lagoon turns gold and pink.
Italian cuisine and Venetian aperitivo
Executive chef Adriano Rausa creates contemporary Italian cuisine with a Venetian accent, based on seasonal produce sourced notably from the island of Sant'Erasmo; several dishes are finished at the table. The terrace bar celebrates the aperitivo ritual with reinvented classic cocktails. The restaurant can be booked privately for gala dinners and, in the warmer months, its 144 m² terrace hosts receptions.
Practical information
The restaurant serves breakfast (7am-10.30am), lunch (noon-3pm) and dinner (7pm-10.30pm) every day, indoors or on the terrace depending on the weather. Bookings can be made by phone or online and are strongly recommended for an outdoor table at sunset. Expect a high-end budget. The San Zaccaria vaporetto stop is right in front of the hotel, a few steps from St Mark's Square.
