A roof terrace between Toledo and the port

The Renaissance Naples Hotel Mediterraneo occupies a building on Via Ponte di Tappia, in the shopping district linking Via Toledo to Piazza Municipio. At the very top, on the eleventh floor, Roof Garden Angiò combines a room with large picture windows and a spacious terrace edged with a balustrade, furnished with white sofas and tables. In the morning the venue serves the hotel's breakfast; at the end of the day it becomes a cocktail bar open to everyone, hotel guests or not.

From the Maschio Angioino to Vesuvius

The eye falls first on Castel Nuovo, the Angevin fortress that Neapolitans call the Maschio Angioino, almost at the foot of the building. Beyond it stretch the port and its quays, then the gulf: the hill of Posillipo on one side, the coast running towards Torre del Greco on the other, with the silhouette of Vesuvius above the bay. As daylight fades, the lights of the port and the coast gradually come on.

Cocktails and Campanian bites

The menu mixes the great classics with creations inspired by Naples, such as an espresso martini renamed with a Neapolitan twist or a gin, limoncello and prosecco sour that evokes Capri. Expect to pay €18 to €20 a glass, served with two small bites prepared in the kitchen and changed every week: aubergine polpette, crostini with Cetara anchovies, beef carpaccio or shrimp tartare. For groups of more than five people, a more generous aperitivo package costs €30 per person, drink included.

Practical information

Roof Garden Angiò also welcomes guests who are not staying at the hotel. The terrace bar operates in the late afternoon and evening; current opening times and opening outside the warmer months should be checked with the hotel on +39 081 797 0001. The roof can also be hired for an event. The hotel is about 200 metres from Toledo station and less than 300 metres from Municipio station, both on metro line 1; Augusteo station on the Centrale funicular is a few minutes' walk away.
