The de Bonart Naples, long known as The Britannique, stands at number 133 Corso Vittorio Emanuele, right next to the Grand Hotel Parker's, on the heights of Chiaia. Its top floor faces the city: The NIQ Bar occupies a lounge with large picture windows, extended by an open-air terrace furnished with sofas, floor lamps and a potted olive tree. The same roof is home to the hotel's breakfast room, Le Pavillon.

The bay and Vesuvius as a backdrop

Behind the glass, the view tumbles down over the roofs of Chiaia to the seafront, with the Castel dell'Ovo, Vesuvius and the hills of the Sorrento Peninsula on the horizon. The velvet armchairs are lined up facing the windows, so the panorama is always there, even when it is chilly. At nightfall, the terrace lights up with lamps and the hills glow all around.

Mixology, aperitivo and Saturday brunch

The menu focuses on mixologists' creations, built around carefully selected ingredients and unexpected pairings, served with bites created by the chef. The hotel offers a “Mixology Experience” at €30 per person, with a signature cocktail and finger food, as well as a rooftop aperitivo at €25; from May to September, it is served directly on the terrace. Every Saturday lunchtime, a brunch with music and a DJ set takes over the roof, with a Christmas edition in December.

Practical information

The bar is open every day until midnight; opening times vary, so it is best to check with the concierge. The Saturday brunch takes place from 12.30pm to 3pm, by reservation on +39 081 090 2000. Piazza Amedeo station (Linea 2) and the Corso Vittorio Emanuele stop on the Chiaia funicular are a few hundred metres away.
