A newcomer on the rooftops of Pest
The brand's first hotel in Hungary, the Moxy Budapest Downtown opened in spring 2026 on Kazinczy utca, in the heart of Erzsébetváros, the Jewish Quarter, one of the liveliest parts of the city with its ruin bars and inner courtyards. Its rooftop, Saddle & Sky, crowns the building: a covered, extensively glazed room, dominated by a long green-tiled bar, opening onto an open-air terrace. The view takes in St Stephen's Basilica, Buda Castle and Gellért Hill, topped by the Citadel.
Sisi and the equestrian spirit
The name and decor pay tribute to Empress Elisabeth, known as Sisi, Queen of Hungary and a passionate horsewoman: bright colours, striped armchairs and nods to the world of horses. The cocktail menu follows the same thread. The house creations are named after places in the city, such as the Chain Bridge, with dark rum and walnut syrup, the Liberty Bridge, with melon, lime and vanilla, or the Citadel, with tequila and chilli. A “Spiced by Hungary” series showcases apricot pálinka, poppy seed liqueur and Unicum, and spritzes complete the offer.
For a drink or an event
With prices that are still moderate for a central rooftop, it is a good spot for an aperitif before setting off to explore the neighbourhood's bars. The venue also hosts private parties and corporate events for up to 50 people, and the hotel has a car park.
Practical information
Open in the evening, from 5pm to 11pm; the bar's website states it opens Monday to Saturday, but days may vary: it is best to book a table online. Signature cocktails from 4,550 to 5,250 Ft, classics from 4,200 Ft. Getting there: Kazinczy utca 48, less than 10 minutes' walk from Deák Ferenc tér (M1, M2, M3).
