Couleur Locale: the Acropolis opposite, in the heart of Monastiraki
A roof hidden in a passage
Opened in summer 2014, Couleur Locale is tucked away in the covered passage of Normanou Street, a lively alley in Monastiraki, very close to the metro station. You have to go through the discreet entrance to reach the upper floors: the art gallery The Project Gallery on the first, an event space on the second and, on the third, the rooftop terrace.
Up there, under large stretched canopies, among green plants and wooden tables, the view runs over the rooftops of the old centre to the Acropolis and the Parthenon. At night, when the rock is lit up, the spectacle draws a large, young crowd. Heaters and canopies make it possible to enjoy the place all year round.
From morning coffee to midnight cocktails
The day starts with coffee and brunch: eggs on sourdough bread, pancakes, sandwiches, burgers, pinsa romana and salads. In the evening, the dinner menu takes over with sharing plates. At the bar, the house cocktails draw on Greek products such as mastiha, Naxos citron or ouzo, at around €12 to €13; the classics cost €11 or €12 and spritzes €10. DJs liven up the evenings.
The second floor operates independently for private parties, presentations and corporate events.
Practical information
Coffee is served from 9am to 8.30pm, the lunch menu until 6pm, dinner from 6pm to midnight and cocktails until 1am. The venue is open all year round. Monastiraki metro (lines 1 and 3) is about 150 metres away. Information on +30 216 700 4917.
