La Petite Plage: Éric Frechon's table on the roof of the Talaia
At the top of a renovated hotel
A former Radisson Blu completely renovated by designer Jean-Philippe Nuel, Le Talaia is a four-star hotel with 149 rooms and a member of the MGallery collection. At the very top, on the fifth-floor rooftop, is La Petite Plage, the hotel's restaurant, open to everyone, hotel guests or not.
Views over the Côte des Basques
The dining room, in shades of beige, pink and orange, mixes wood, wicker and hanging bougainvillea, and opens wide onto the ocean. Outside, the terrace, sheltered by a stretched canopy, seats around 120 diners facing the Atlantic and the Côte des Basques, with the roofs and villas of Biarritz below. At sunset, music takes over to make the evening last.
Summer cuisine by Éric Frechon
Éric Frechon, a Meilleur Ouvrier de France, has created a sunny menu where Mediterranean influences meet local produce, and which changes with the seasons: tuna tartare with avocado, sea bream carpaccio, baby squid fritters, foie gras from the Landes, hand-cut beef tartare or plancha-grilled hanger steak. At lunchtime, a different dish of the day is offered every day of the week at €19. Starters are around €14 to €25, mains from €25 to €30, and there is a children's dish.
The bar keeps guests company all day long, from breakfast to the last drink. When the weather is fine, the rooftop also hosts a summer bar, with signature cocktails, chilled rosé and a music programme curated by Bon Entendeur.
Practical information
The restaurant and its bar are open all year round; the rooftop summer bar only operates in the warmer months, and the rooftop pool is reserved for hotel guests. Reservations are made online. The venue is served by a lift, is accessible to people with reduced mobility, and pets are welcome. Address: 1 carrefour d'Hélianthe, a few steps from the Côte des Basques and Les Halles.
For lunch or dinner facing the ocean, whatever the season, La Petite Plage offers a table perched high above the Côte des Basques.
