Jost On Top: spritzes and sunsets above Saint-Jean station
A roof terrace on the 8th floor of JOST
Opened in 2022 just behind Saint-Jean station, next to place des Citernes, JOST combines a hotel, dormitories, a restaurant and a performance venue. Its top level is home to Jost On Top, a rooftop open to all: on the 8th floor, the terrace wraps almost all the way around the building, punctuated by a pale colonnade, with colourful tables, deckchairs, a sheltered bar area and parasols.
A view over a neighbourhood reinventing itself
From up here, the eye sweeps over the rooftops of Bordeaux, from the bell towers of the centre to the cranes on the building sites around the station. This is not the postcard view of the quays, but an unexpected urban panorama, particularly pleasant at sunset. In the middle of the terrace, a long swimming pool is reserved for hotel guests.
Spritz bar and Italian flavours
The drinks list puts the spotlight on the spritz, available in five versions at €10, from the classic Aperol version to a limoncello one. House cocktails and the great classics cost €11, mocktails €9, and one-litre carafes at €30 are there to share with friends. From 7pm, the kitchen of the Nonna Gioia restaurant moves up to the roof: burrata with figs, charcuterie and cheese boards, Detroit-style pizza, pasta of the day or hand-cut tartare, with tiramisu and panna cotta for dessert.
In summer, DJ sets and ticketed Thursday pool parties liven up the terrace, which can also be hired privately for a birthday or after-work drinks.
Practical information
Jost On Top is a seasonal rooftop that reopens every summer. In season, it is open daily from 4pm to 10.30pm, with food served from 7pm to 10pm; tables can be booked online. Access is via 18 rue des Ateliers, a few minutes' walk from Saint-Jean station (trams C and D).
A laid-back spot for a drink up high without breaking the bank, a stone's throw from the trains.
