Rivamour: a hanging garden facing the Garonne
On the sixth floor of Hotel 56
On quai de Paludate, a few minutes' walk from Saint-Jean station, Hotel 56 has placed its restaurant and bar on its top level, the sixth floor. Opened in January 2025, Rivamour welcomes hotel guests and Bordeaux locals dropping by alike, from breakfast to last drinks. Colourful works by Hervé Di Rosa, a leading figure of the Figuration Libre movement, accompany visitors throughout the building.
The Garonne and the MÉCA below
Behind its large picture windows, the dining room extends onto a planted terrace edged with a glass balustrade. The eye sweeps over the Garonne, the tree-lined right bank and, right next door, the silhouette of the MÉCA. The panorama is at its gentlest at the end of the day, when the sun sinks over the rooftops and the river.
Cuisine between the Garonne and the Basque Country
The menu changes with the seasons and showcases producers from the South-West, with a nod to the Basque coast: homemade pâté en croûte, ham croquettes, fish of the moment or a cut of Aquitaine beef to share. At weekday lunchtime, a set menu is offered at €18 to €25. At the bar, the signature cocktails, named after Basque villages, come with a selection of wines and a short menu of nibbles. The restaurant also hosts meetings, seminars and private parties in its sixth-floor spaces.
