Flute: pulling out all the stops above Soho
A rooftop bar with maximalist decor
Flute crowns the Broadwick Soho hotel, at 20 Broadwick Street, in the very heart of Soho. Its name pays tribute to a flute maker who lived on this street in the 19th century. Inside, nothing is understated: animal-print armchairs, cork-lined walls, mirrored ceilings, palm-patterned carpet and a large central onyx bar. The decor evokes a glamorous, almost theatrical drawing room.
Outside, a landscaped terrace wraps around the floor, among plants, awnings and small tables. From here, you look down over the streets and rooftops of Soho, with a few landmarks of the London skyline in the distance.
Cocktails inspired by Soho's music
The cocktail list pays tribute to the neighbourhood's music scene: each creation is named after a song linked to Soho's streets, studios or stages. Expect to pay £18 to £25 for a signature cocktail; a “Reserva” series reworks the classics with premium spirits. For fizz lovers, a glass of champagne served with a dab of caviar is offered at £35. To nibble on, there are small sharing plates: tuna tostadas, beef sliders, lobster and prawn brioche buns, halloumi tacos.
Music nights are held regularly. Worth knowing: the house asks guests to put their phones away during their visit.
