Yasmin: a taste of Istanbul on the rooftops of Soho
A wraparound terrace, six floors above Soho
Yasmin occupies the top level of 1 Warwick, a Soho building that houses a members' club; the restaurant, initially reserved for members, now welcomes the public. You'll find it on the sixth floor, above a quiet corner of the neighbourhood, moments from Regent Street and Piccadilly Circus.
The dining room, opened up by large picture windows, goes for hushed, cosy comfort: pink velvet, marble tables, a stone-topped bar. All around runs a terrace planted with greenery, sheltered by awnings and heated, from which you can see the surrounding rooftops, domes and chimneys.
Mezze, grills and Eastern-inspired cocktails
The cooking draws on Istanbul and the Middle East, in small plates to share: whipped sheep's cheese with chilli honey, hummus, chicken or duck skewers, lamb kebab, manti (Turkish dumplings). “Feasting” menus, including a vegetarian version, let you try a little of everything. At the bar, the signature cocktails, at around £18 to £21, draw on spices and fruit: pomegranate, fig, rose or passion fruit. Several alcohol-free cocktails are available at around £12.
Practical information
Yasmin is open Tuesday to Saturday from noon to 10pm (last booking at 8.30pm); it is closed on Sunday and Monday, days set aside for private hire. The dining room can be booked all year round; terrace tables depend on the weather and go quickly on sunny days, so it's best to book early. For private hire, the venue can hold up to 120 standing guests. The nearest Tube stations are Piccadilly Circus (Piccadilly and Bakerloo lines) and Oxford Circus, a few minutes' walk away.
