A hidden terrace on Swanston Street
You have to know it's there: Goldilocks is on the 5th floor of the Denyers Building, on Swanston Street, reached through a discreet entrance and then a lift. Up top, a human-scale terrace, more intimate than the city's big rooftops, unfolds beneath a pergola covered in flowers and fairy lights, with the city-centre towers all around. The roof can open in fine weather or close when rain threatens, and heaters take over in winter.
Fairytale cocktails and Asian food
The name refers to Goldilocks and the Three Bears, the common thread of a cocktail list that changes with the seasons. The spring 2026 list offers creations mostly between A$24 and A$26: vodka with vanilla and white chocolate, tequila and mezcal with pomegranate molasses, pink gin with lychee. To nibble on, there are steamed dumplings, bao and spring rolls, with several vegan options. Happy hour runs Monday to Friday from 4pm to 6pm, and the Three Bears Boozy Brunch, every day from noon, offers an hour and a half of bottomless drinks with a dish for A$85 per person.
