A lounge and a terrace on the 11th floor
The QT Melbourne hotel stands on Russell Street, right in the city centre. You don't need to be staying there: you cross the lobby and a lift takes you straight up to level 11, where the bar spreads out. The space is split between an indoor section, with banquettes and patterned wallpaper, and an open-air terrace partly sheltered by a pergola, from which you get a close-up view of the city-centre towers. Renovated in 2024, the venue has adopted more colourful decor and a new menu.
Cocktails, sharing plates and DJs
The menu mixes signature and classic cocktails, wines and champagne, accompanied by Mediterranean-inspired plates, small or more substantial: wood-fired flatbread or fried seafood. From Thursday to Sunday, the bar opens from noon for a drink in the sun, then the DJs take over in the evening, playing soul, disco and electronic music. Heaters and awnings mean the terrace can be enjoyed in winter.
Practical information
Open Monday to Wednesday from 3pm to midnight, Thursday and Sunday from noon to midnight, and Friday and Saturday from noon to 1am. Online bookings available; smart casual dress expected. Getting there: Bourke Street trams (routes 86 and 96); Parliament station a few minutes' walk away; the CBD lies within the Free Tram Zone.
