Good Heavens: a big party rooftop on Bourke Street
A rooftop built for crowds
In the eastern part of the CBD, near Spring Street and Parliament, a staircase shared with Fancy Hank's restaurant leads to the 2nd floor, where Good Heavens takes up the entire roof. The decor is inspired by Palm Springs: pastel tones, blue and orange metal chairs, umbrellas and a glass roof with bluish reflections. Expanded in 2023, the venue can hold up to 400 people; a large part is sheltered under an awning, with blinds and heaters, making it a year-round option. The view remains limited, hemmed in by the surrounding buildings, but the atmosphere is what counts.
Cocktails, barbecue and daily deals
At the central bar, cocktails reinvent the classics and the 1980s; current creations sit at around A$25, and frozen cocktails at around A$19. Beer on tap and Australian wines round out the list. Fancy Hank's kitchen sends up its brisket sandwiches, chicken wings and other barbecue dishes. Each day has its deal: happy hour on weekdays from 3pm to 6pm, all-day happy hour on Mondays, A$10 spritzes on Sundays. DJs play disco, house and funk at weekends.
Practical information
Open daily from noon to 1am. Booking is recommended, as the venue is very busy all year round; groups of 30 to 400 people on request. Access by stairs only, with no lift. Minors accompanied by an adult are admitted at the manager's discretion, until 9pm. Getting there: Parliament station, and trams 86 and 96 to the Bourke Street / Spring Street stop, within the CBD's Free Tram Zone.
