San Laurel: a terrace facing the Walt Disney Concert Hall
On the 10th floor of The Grand
The Conrad Los Angeles is part of The Grand, the Frank Gehry–designed complex on Grand Avenue, in the heart of Bunker Hill's cultural district. Its 10th floor is home to San Laurel, the flagship of José Andrés's dining lineup at the hotel. The dining room opens wide onto a terrace whose tables and banquettes face, across the street, the steel curves of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, designed by the same architect; farther out, the view reaches all the way to the San Gabriel Mountains. In the evening, the wind whips between the towers: a jacket comes in handy on the terrace.
Spain, California style
The kitchen builds a bridge between the Iberian Peninsula and the farmers markets of Los Angeles. At dinner, Ibérico de bellota ham, fennel soup with crab and Manchego espuma, wild mushrooms with bay leaf cream and a fried egg, rack of lamb or côte de boeuf are shared at the table. The restaurant also serves breakfast (olive oil mini pancakes, Spanish-style eggs) and lunch, with a prix fixe option.
The drinks list reworks classics like the pisco sour alongside house creations, nonalcoholic cocktails, sake and sherry by the glass, and a long wine list focused on Spain, California and the West Coast.
