Kassi: a taste of the Mediterranean above Venice Beach
The roof of the Hotel Erwin, facing the Pacific
The Hotel Erwin, on Pacific Avenue, sits just steps from the sand and the boardwalk of Venice Beach, one of Los Angeles's beach neighborhoods. Since 2025, its roof has been home to Kassi, which took the place of the former High Rooftop Lounge. The decor borrows from the Greek islands: pale wood, ecru cushions, umbrellas and Mediterranean plants. From the terrace, the view takes in the beach, its palm trees and the ocean, and the sunsets here are especially popular.
Mezze, skewers and summer cocktails
The menu is made for sharing: hand-pulled flatbread, tzatziki, hummus, taramasalata or whipped avocado, then fried zucchini chips with whipped feta, crispy halloumi, calamari and skewers (lamb, honey-harissa chicken, beef, salmon, octopus or lobster). Brunch, served until 3pm, adds avocado toast, poached eggs with tzatziki or a pistachio waffle. For drinks, the house cocktails run $19 to $21, like the Sundial, with gin, grapefruit and dill, or the Oracle of Delphi, with tequila and watermelon; there are also $17 frozen cocktails, spritzes on tap and a small selection of Greek wines.
DJs play on the roof Friday through Sunday, and on weekdays, from 4pm to 6pm, “Golden Hour” brings discounted cocktails. The space can be booked for parties and groups.
