The J. Parker: the lake and the skyline from Lincoln Park
A glass atrium above the park
Lincoln Park runs along Lake Michigan north of downtown and is home to the zoo of the same name. Across the street, on Clark Street, the Hotel Lincoln has given its roof over to The J. Parker. Take the lobby elevator up to the 13th floor to reach a glass atrium whose roof opens in nice weather, extended by terraces: about 140 seats outside and 55 inside. The panorama is the big draw: the park's tree canopy and the zoo in the foreground, the lake as far as the eye can see, and the downtown skyscrapers to the south. A large mural sets the tone for the rooftop's decor.
Flavors from Chicago's neighborhoods
The menu draws inspiration from the city's neighborhoods: smoked pork belly bao, queso fritters, chicken wings, Brussels sprouts toast, a smash burger, a walleye sandwich or Korean-style ribs. Signature cocktails, from $15 to $18, are joined by bubbly and California wines. Sunday through Thursday, from 4pm to 6pm, a “Sunset Happy Hour” offers $10 martinis and small plates. On Saturday and Sunday, from 10am to 3pm, brunch comes as an unlimited deal at $30 for 90 minutes, and DJs take over in the evening on weekends.
The rooftop can be booked privately, in part or in full, for up to 225 guests.
