Roof Garden: the Globus terrace

At the top of a department store

The Globus department store is at the heart of the Kreis 1 shopping district, between the Bahnhofstrasse and the Löwenplatz, a few minutes' walk from the main station. The Roof Garden occupies its fifth and top floor. Behind large picture windows, the dining room and the bar go all out on decor: painted ceilings, botanical wallpaper, chandeliers, brightly coloured armchairs and banquettes. Outside, the roof terrace, lined with planters, looks out over the city's rooftops and the Uetliberg, a lovely spot for the sunset.

French cuisine and cocktails

The cuisine draws on the French and Mediterranean repertoire, with a lunch menu, an afternoon menu and an evening menu; every Tuesday, “Tartare Tuesday” lets you create your own tartare. At the bar, cocktail service starts at 2pm: seasonal creations and signatures from CHF 19 to 23, classics such as the French martini or the penicillin from CHF 20 to 22, spritzes from CHF 18 to 20 and alcohol-free cocktails from CHF 16 to 18. Middle Eastern-inspired mezze, oysters, truffle fries or charcuterie and cheese boards accompany the drinks, and the cellar showcases European wines.

Practical information

Open Monday to Friday from 11am to midnight and on Saturday from 10am to midnight; closed on Sunday. After the store closes, you enter through the side entrance on the corner of the Löwenstrasse and the Schweizergasse. Tables can be booked online; at weekends, from 8pm, the bar is reserved for over-21s. Tram to the Löwenplatz stop, or a few minutes' walk from the main station; paid Globus car park, cheaper after 8pm.
