La Muña: Lake Zurich seen from the roof of the Eden au Lac
Beneath the dome of a lakeside hotel
La Réserve Eden au Lac stands on the Utoquai, the quay that runs along the east shore of Lake Zurich, in the Seefeld district (Kreis 8). A glass lift leaves from the lobby and goes straight up to the sixth floor, where the restaurant has taken over the former attic, beneath the hotel's dome. Exposed beams, brick walls, old parquet floors, leather armchairs and rugs brought back from travels: the decor evokes an imaginary harbour master's office, with rowing boats and kayaks suspended from the structure.
Outside, two terraces stretch across the roof, with sofas and tables under large parasols; one of them can be booked for a private event. The view takes in the lake and its boats, the historic centre and, on a clear day, the Alps.
Ceviches, sushi and sharing plates
The cuisine combines Japan and Peru, on plates designed for sharing: sea bass or bluefin tuna ceviches at around CHF 36 to 38, salmon tostadas, maki from CHF 32 to 48, gyoza, prawn tempura, a large assortment of sushi and sashimi at CHF 105, then hot dishes such as miso-marinated black cod. The wine list is long and comes with a selection of sakes. In the warmer months, the rooftop bar also serves snacks for an aperitif facing the lake.
Practical information
The restaurant serves lunch and dinner; days and opening hours should be checked before you come. It welcomes everyone, not only hotel guests: book online or by phone. The terraces depend on the weather, and the rooftop bar only operates in fine weather. Access through the hotel lobby; Kreuzstrasse tram stop nearby.
