Café Clock: a cultural café on the rooftops of the Kasbah
A former school in the heart of the Kasbah
Born in Fez, Café Clock opened a second address in the Kasbah of Marrakech, at 224 Derb Chtouka, in the south of the medina. The café occupies a former school refurbished with murals by artists, second-hand furniture and piles of books. The stairs lead to two roof terraces, from where you can watch the sun set over the rooftops and palm trees of the Kasbah.
Moroccan cuisine for today
The menu gives Moroccan cuisine a light touch: the camel burger made the house's reputation, alongside falafel bowls, a vegetable pastilla and tagines. As for drinks, alcohol is not served: choose from mint or ginger lemonades, smoothies, milkshakes and fresh orange juice, at around 20 to 40 dirhams, or a coffee, a mint tea or even an alcohol-free beer.
Concerts, storytelling and workshops
Café Clock sees itself as a place of exchange between locals and visitors. Live music is scheduled every evening, and the café hosts storytelling evenings in Darija and English, exhibitions, screenings as well as cooking, pastry, calligraphy and oud classes.
Practical information
Café Clock is open every day from 9am to 11pm. No need to book for a drink or a meal; classes and groups are booked on the website. Derb Chtouka is in the Kasbah, south of the medina: walk there from Jemaa el-Fna square or take a petit taxi to the Kasbah. Relaxed atmosphere.
