The roof of the Grand Hotel Baglioni
The Grand Hotel Baglioni occupies one side of Piazza dell'Unità Italiana, just behind Santa Maria Novella station. Its top level, long known as Terrazza Brunelleschi, has been called B-Roof since 2017. Here you will find a restaurant surrounded by picture windows and several terraces at different heights, open to hotel guests and passing visitors alike.
A sweeping view of the historic centre
The view takes in much of Florence: the nearby basilica of Santa Maria Novella, the dome of the Medici Chapels, then Brunelleschi's Dome and Giotto's Bell Tower, the tower of Palazzo Vecchio and, on the other bank, the heights of San Miniato and Piazzale Michelangelo. At sunset, the tiled roofs take on a pinkish hue that gives the place all its charm.
Tuscan cuisine and cocktails
The restaurant reinterprets regional recipes using local produce. In the evening, diners choose a tasting menu or at least two dishes from the à la carte menu. The American Bar serves the great classics and house creations; in summer, aperitivo is taken under the plant-covered pergola of B-Green and on the terraces. Expect to pay €12 to €18 per cocktail. The venue also hosts weddings, private receptions and corporate events.
Practical information
B-Roof is open every day, all year round. The restaurant serves from 12.30pm to 2pm and from 7.30pm to 10pm; the bar is open in the afternoon and until midnight, with aperitivo service from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. Booking is recommended, by phone or online. The fifth floor is reached through the hotel entrance on Piazza dell'Unità Italiana, about two minutes' walk from Santa Maria Novella station.
