Ruby Rosi: a fairy-tale garden on the rooftops of the station district
A green oasis above Bayerstraße
Opened in 2022 in a former 1950s office building, the Ruby Rosi hotel stands on Bayerstraße, right opposite the Hauptbahnhof. Its decor draws on the world of Bavarian fairy tales, and this inspiration extends all the way up to the fifth floor, where a 260 m² terrace has been added on top of the building. Potted plants, flower boxes, white cast-iron chairs, long rough-hewn wooden tables and strings of lanterns create an enchanted garden setting. The bar and terrace are open to Munich residents and passing travellers alike.
Rooftop views and a relaxed atmosphere
From the roof, the view stretches over red-tiled roofs and the buildings of the station district towards the centre of Munich. It is not a dizzying panorama, but a calm, green interlude just a stone's throw from the platforms, ideal for a sunset drink when the string lights come on.
Cocktails, Bavarian beer and small Italian plates
The house's signature drink is the Aperol Spritz, alongside great classics such as the whiskey sour, local beers, wines, regional soft drinks and barista coffee. For a bite to eat, the menu offers pizzas, piadine and Italian-inspired sharing plates. The hotel regularly hosts concerts and events, and the bar can accommodate private parties.
Practical information
The terrace is seasonal: it opens every year from Easter to October, when the weather allows. It is open daily from 8am to 10pm; until 5pm, you order at the bar on the 4th floor, which is open 24/7, then from Monday to Saturday a bar service operates directly on the roof from 5pm to 10pm. Tables can be booked online. Payment is by card only. Casual dress. Getting there: S-Bahn, U-Bahn (U1, U2, U4, U5) and tram to München Hauptbahnhof, right opposite.
