M'Uniqo: Munich in 360 degrees from Schwabing

A bar high up at the top of the Andaz

On Leopoldstraße, Schwabing's main thoroughfare, the Schwabinger Tor complex is home to the Andaz Munich hotel. Its bar and restaurant, M'Uniqo, occupies the 12th floor, more than 40 metres above the ground: a long room with high, mirrored ceilings, lined with picture windows, with a large bar counter facing the shelves of bottles. One level up, a rooftop terrace with around a hundred seats lets you get some fresh air almost 50 metres up.

A view all the way round the city

From the terrace, the panorama takes in the whole city: the Olympic Tower and the Olympic Park on one side, the rooftops of Schwabing all around and, when the air is crystal clear, the Alps on the horizon. On summer evenings, the sunset draws a crowd, so it is best to book, and to ask for a table by the windows if the weather means staying indoors.

Signature cocktails and sharing plates

Most of the signature cocktails cost between €16 and €19, alongside a few classics such as the espresso martini or the paper plane, alcohol-free versions and a fine selection of champagnes. In the kitchen, the focus is on Mediterranean-inspired bites and tapas: beef tartare, oysters, truffle flammekueche, short rib tacos or a cheese board. From Tuesday to Thursday, a happy hour from 6pm to 7pm offers deals with cocktails, or with oysters and champagne.

Practical information

M'Uniqo is open Tuesday to Thursday from 6pm to midnight and Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 1am; it is closed on Sunday and Monday. The rooftop terrace is best enjoyed in fine weather. Booking online or by phone. Smart casual dress: no tracksuits. Minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult, and under-15s are only admitted until 10pm. Getting there by tram (Schwabinger Tor and Parzivalplatz stops, lines 12 and 23) or by U-Bahn U6, Dietlindenstraße station, less than ten minutes' walk away.
