An Australian restaurant near the Ostbahnhof
Werksviertel-Mitte is a district built on former industrial land, just behind the Ostbahnhof. In the WERK4 building, the Adina Apartment Hotel is home to Fitzroy, a restaurant and bar championing “ModOz”, modern Australian cuisine: Asian flavours, Mediterranean lightness and a touch of the outback, with seasonal produce. The restaurant serves lunch on weekdays and dinner every evening; on some Sundays, an Australian-style brunch is on offer.
The 15th-floor terrace
One floor above the restaurant, the Rooftop Bar spreads out under large parasols, among potted palms, ornamental grasses and banquettes. The view stretches far across eastern Munich and, when the air is crystal clear, all the way to the Alps. The terrace is partly covered; when the weather turns, you retreat to the bar on the 14th floor. From 1 November, it becomes the Winter Rooftop Lounge, with hot drinks, decorative flames and an Eisstock lane that can be hired for €99 for 45 minutes, by reservation.
Spritzes, highballs and signature cocktails
On the roof, the summer menu lines up spritzes from €12 to €13, a munich mule or a dark and stormy at €14, gin and tonics from €14.20 to €16.20, wines by the glass and Bavarian beers. At the 14th-floor bar, the signature cocktails created by the team cost €17. Snacks from the kitchen accompany the drinks, and resident DJs liven up the bar from Thursday to Saturday. The spaces can be hired for groups of up to 40 people.
Practical information
The Rooftop Bar is open daily from 3pm to 10pm, weather permitting only. The restaurant is open Monday to Friday from noon to 2pm and every evening from 6pm to 11pm; the bar closes at 1am, or 2am at weekends. The terrace operates without reservations, while the restaurant can be booked online. S-Bahn (S1 to S8), U5 and tram 19: Ostbahnhof stop, just across Friedenstraße.
