Rooftop de La Fondation: the rooftops of the 17th as far as the eye can see
A former car park turned social hub
On rue Legendre, La Fondation occupies a former concrete car park transformed into a five-star hotel, with a brasserie, restaurant, spa, swimming pool and workspaces, in a setting designed by the New York studio Roman & Williams. The complex opened in spring 2025 and aims to welcome travellers and local residents alike. At the very top, on the 10th floor, the rooftop stretches out in the open air, among pale banquettes, planters and braziers.
From the Sacré-Cœur to the Eiffel Tower
Walking around the terrace, you pass from one monument to another: the Montmartre hill on one side, the Eiffel Tower on the other, and in between a sea of Parisian rooftops and chimneys. The end of the day is the most popular moment, when the golden light glides over the zinc.
Cocktails, tapas and a restaurant on the 8th floor
The bar menu lines up classics such as the Negroni, the Mojito and the Paloma, spritzes and a fine selection of champagnes, accompanied by tapas served in the evening (tarama, piquillo pepper cream, charcuterie). A playlist sets the mood. Two floors below, the restaurant Les Ailes, open all year round, offers modern French cuisine and sharing plates, with its own planted terrace and a bar open from 5pm. The hotel's spaces can be hired for parties or corporate events.
Practical information
The rooftop is seasonal: it reopens every year when the fine weather returns, from around April to October, and only opens when the weather allows. It works on a no-reservations basis, in the evening (times to be checked depending on the period). Les Ailes welcomes guests from Tuesday to Saturday, with booking recommended. The hotel is at 40 rue Legendre; the nearest metro station is Villiers (lines 2 and 3).
