Kong: a glass roof suspended above the Pont-Neuf
A UFO on the rooftops of the 1st arrondissement
On the corner of the Pont-Neuf, Kong occupies the fifth and top floor of a Haussmann-era building, between the Samaritaine and the Louis Vuitton headquarters. Opened in May 2003, the venue made its name with its décor designed by Philippe Starck, its transparent chairs adorned with faces and its dining room set beneath an immense glass roof. This is also where scenes from the final episode of Sex and the City were filmed.
The Seine as a backdrop
There is no open-air terrace here: the scenery is enjoyed through the glass. Depending on the table, the view takes in the Pont-Neuf, the Seine, the Art Nouveau and Art Deco façades of the Samaritaine and the rooftops of the neighbourhood. The scene changes from sunny lunchtimes to the evening lights.
Paris-Tokyo cooking and cocktails
The menu pairs French produce with Japanese influences: gyozas, wagyu beef tataki, miso black cod or lobster udon. At lunchtime, Monday to Saturday, a set menu is offered at €42 (two courses) or €52 (three courses), and on Sundays a buffet brunch is served at €65. At the bar, open without reservations, signature cocktails cost €18 to €22.
The boudoir or the Pont-Neuf space allow part of the restaurant to be booked privately for a dinner or a cocktail reception.
Practical information
The restaurant is open daily from noon, until 1am Sunday to Wednesday and until 2am Thursday to Saturday; the bar welcomes guests from 4pm to 2am. Smart dress is recommended in the evening. A lift serves the dining room, valet parking is available from 7pm and the Rivoli – Pont-Neuf car park is just opposite. Metro Pont Neuf (line 7) or Châtelet.
For dinner under a glass roof above the Seine, Kong remains an iconic address in central Paris.
