Terrasse Place d'Armes: golden hour above Old Montreal
At the top of the Hôtel Place d'Armes
The Hôtel Place d'Armes stands on Rue Saint-Jacques, on the edge of Place d'Armes and a few steps from Notre-Dame Basilica, in the heart of the historic district. Its terrace occupies the 8th floor: navy blue high tables, strings of light bulbs, palm trees and flower beds, with a covered section that lets you stay outside when the weather turns. Every table has a view of the Old Montreal panorama: the bell tower of the basilica, the rooftops of the district and, further away, the downtown skyscrapers.
Cocktails and summer cuisine
The house focuses on signature cocktails, a selection of wines and market cuisine designed for summer, served from lunch to dinner: tartares, tacos, salads, burgers or charcuterie boards are made for sharing. On Thursdays and Fridays, happy hour draws a large crowd of locals, while lunchtimes remain quieter, ideal for long meals in the sun.
A sister venue of Terrasse Nelligan
The terrace belongs to the same hotel group as Terrasse Nelligan, close by on Rue Saint-Paul. Three floors higher than its neighbour, it lends itself well to an early-evening drink, when the golden light slides across the façades of the district.
