Beneath the lattice of the W Abu Dhabi
The W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island is one of the capital's most recognisable buildings: two wings linked by a bridge above the track of the Yas Marina Circuit, topped by an immense glass-and-steel lattice that lights up at night. The WET Deck occupies the hotel's roof. The pool winds between round daybeds set in the water, white sun loungers and a metal sphere that houses the DJ booth; the bar, under a rounded pavilion, faces the pool.
Above, the lattice lets the sky through; all around, the view sweeps over the marina, its yachts and the layout of the circuit. The place aims to be the spot to see and be seen, to the rhythm of the resident DJs.
A day in the sun
Visitors who are not staying at the hotel can book a day pass, Monday to Saturday from noon to 8pm: sun loungers, swimming, refreshing cocktails and small plates, with a package of 150 dirhams, fully redeemable. On Sundays, from noon to 4pm, a package at 79 dirhams includes unlimited house drinks, with a discount on the menu and a DJ on the decks. On Saturdays, from 4.30pm to 7.30pm, a post-brunch party with unlimited drinks starts at 130 dirhams.
Practical information
Pool open from 8am to 8pm, bar and dining from 8am to 1am. Reserved for adults over 21. Booking recommended for the day pass and the weekend packages, online or on +971 2 656 0000. Access by taxi or car to the W Abu Dhabi, at Yas Marina; buses also link Yas Island with the city centre.
