On İstiklal Avenue, Beyoğlu's great pedestrian thoroughfare, the Mısır Apartmanı is a historic building whose top floor has been home to 360 Istanbul for more than twenty years. The main room is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, so the view stretches in every direction: the bell towers and rooftops of Pera in the foreground, the Bosphorus and the Asian shore on one side, the Sea of Marmara on the horizon. At sunset the spectacle is at its height, and the city gradually lights up before the diners' eyes.
World cuisine, sushi and cocktails
At lunch and dinner, the restaurant serves international and contemporary Turkish cuisine as well as a sushi menu, accompanied by a largely Turkish wine selection and a well-stocked bar list. The house cocktails borrow their names from Istanbul places: Pera, Golden Horn, Tophane, Topkapı, Karaköy and Princess Island, made with whisky, hibiscus-infused gin, rum or cinnamon vodka. The venue also highlights several international awards.
From dinner to club
In the evening the atmosphere changes: 360 Istanbul invites DJs and artists from abroad, puts on shows during dinner and switches to club mode from 11pm to 4am. Special nights and New Year's Eve menus round off the programme. Those who come mainly for the view would do better to choose lunch or early evening, when the room is quieter.
