On the rooftops of the Rues-Basses

A chic thoroughfare of luxury boutiques, the Rue du Rhône runs parallel to the quays, a stone's throw from the Place du Molard. At number 42, you cross the lobby of an office building and the lift goes up to the 8th floor, where Rooftop°42 occupies the top level. The contemporary dining room, with its large picture windows and orange banquettes, extends onto an open-air terrace from which the eye plunges over the city's roofs, the harbour, Lake Geneva and the Jet d'Eau.

From lunch to the dance floor

The venue changes its face as the hours go by. At lunchtime, from Tuesday to Saturday, the kitchen revisits French brasserie classics, with a business menu on weekdays. In the evening, it remains French but opens up to Asian flavours: sharing tapas (croquetas, beef tartare maki, panko prawns), glazed black cod, veal katsu or a homemade burger at CHF 28. At the bar, signature cocktails and great classics accompany the aperitif and the sharing boards. Then, after nightfall, singers, performers and DJs get the dining room and the terrace dancing, until 2.30am on Friday and Saturday; themed evenings, Halloween or New Year's Eve punctuate the year.

Practical information

Open all year round from Tuesday to Saturday from noon, closed on Sunday and Monday. Booking online or by phone is recommended; for a group of more than ten people or a private event, the dedicated team replies by email. In the evening, smart dress is required, entry may be limited when it is busy and the venue is aimed mainly at guests over 25. Tram 12 or 17 to the Molard stop, about a hundred metres away.
