La Terraza del Urban: summer on the rooftops of the Barrio de las Letras
A seasonal terrace in the heart of Madrid
The Hotel Urban, a five-star grand luxe hotel known for its art collection, stands on the Carrera de San Jerónimo, between the Puerta del Sol and the Congreso de los Diputados. Every spring, its roof is transformed into a terrace open to the city: low lounge seating, sculpted armchairs, straw parasols and tropical plants, around a glass-walled bar.
The view glides over the tiled rooftops of the Barrio de las Letras to the domes and statues that tower over calle de Alcalá and the Gran Vía.
CEBO bites and cocktails
The menu of bites, called Mordiscos, is created by the chefs of the hotel's CEBO restaurant, recognised by the Michelin Guide. You share creations such as a croissant with bluefin tuna tartare or a mini octopus hot dog, alongside house classics such as patatas bravas. Cocktails take centre stage, with seasonal creations and alcohol-free options.
The terrace can also be booked for private events.
Practical information
The terrace only opens in spring and summer, from 11am to 8pm according to the hotel's website; it reopens every year in late spring, with the 2026 season having started at the end of May. The rooftop pool is reserved for hotel guests. Access is via Carrera de San Jerónimo 34; Sevilla (line 2) or Sol (lines 1, 2 and 3) metro stations are a few minutes away. Remember to check the opening dates before coming outside summer.
