Ella Sky Bar: facing the Callao neon
A restaurant and a terrace on the 10th floor
At number 42 Gran Vía, the building that houses the SmartRental Collection Gran Vía Centric aparthotel hides Ella Sky Bar on its top floor. A lift takes you up to the 10th floor, which is shared between a glass-walled dining room, a bar and an open-air terrace, laid with grass and lined with banquettes.
The show takes place right opposite: Plaza de Callao, the Capitol Building and its illuminated Schweppes sign, one of the best-known images of Madrid. On clear days, the view reaches from the towers in the north of the city to the surroundings of the Royal Palace.
World cuisine, brunch and music-filled evenings
The food, served non-stop, mixes Mediterranean dishes (rice dishes, Iberian ham, fish of the day) with recipes from further afield; a set menu of the day is offered at lunchtime on weekdays and brunch at weekends. At the bar, cocktails and a range of spirits accompany the aperitivo. On Friday and Saturday, DJ sessions and live music liven up the evening. The spaces can be booked for private events.
Practical information
The restaurant opens early in the morning and closes around 1am, or 3am from Thursday to Saturday according to the venue's website; it is best to check the terrace opening hours before you come. Bookings can be made online or by phone, stating your preference for the terrace. Callao metro (lines 3 and 5) is at the foot of the building.
