Azotea Cibeles: a drink at the top of the Palacio de Cibeles
A terrace in the City Hall
The Palacio de Cibeles, the former post office palace that became the seat of Madrid City Council and the CentroCentro cultural centre, houses a terrace of around 400 m² on its sixth floor. It is now run by Azotea Grupo, the group that also manages the terrace of the Círculo de Bellas Artes, and has been redecorated by Alejandra Pombo's studio.
From up there, the view plunges down onto the Cibeles fountain and stretches along calle de Alcalá, the Paseo de Recoletos and the Paseo del Prado. As night falls, the domes and illuminated façades at the start of the Gran Vía form one of the most iconic panoramas in Madrid.
Cocktails and Madrid-style picoteo
The bar menu mixes reworked classics and house creations, at around €12 to €14 per cocktail, with alcohol-free versions too. To go with your drink, you can pick from a menu of small plates inspired by Madrid cooking: Iberian ham, croquetas, patatas bravas, ensaladilla or bocadillo de calamares. The Cornamusa restaurant and the Café Cibeles complete the offer in the same building.
The venue also hosts private and corporate events for up to 150 people.
Practical information
The terrace is open every day from 11am to 12.30am, and until 1.30am on Friday, Saturday and the eve of public holidays. Without a booking, entry costs €10, with a drink up to that value included; entry is on a first-come, first-served basis, and you can book a table or a package online. Banco de España metro (line 2) is just a stone's throw away, as is Recoletos station.
For a first sunset over Madrid, it would be hard to find anywhere more central.
