GAPP: the Hotel Casa's rooftop garden
A green roof in east Amsterdam
Not far from Amsterdam Amstel station, the Hotel Casa occupies a large waterside building in the Oost district. At the top, on the 8th floor, its roof has been transformed into a garden terrace: GAPP. Beds of plants and ornamental grasses frame the tables, benches and lounge corners, with an open view over the rooftops of the east of the city.
The venue is open to hotel guests and visitors alike. A recently added pergola now means it can be enjoyed in windy or rainy weather, not just in the sunshine.
Local beers and simple food
The menu showcases the region's brewers, with more than thirty local craft beers and a house beer, Gabbe. Cocktails such as the Mokum Martini or the Espresso Martini cost €13.50, and a gin and tonic €11.50. On the plate: natural cooking and dishes for sharing, at reasonable prices.
Seasons and events
GAPP comes into its own in fine weather. In autumn, the “GAPP Afterglow” formula extends the season, and fondue packages are offered to groups in November and December. The roof can also be hired for parties and corporate events.
