La Terrasse: lunch on the roof of the Oceanographic Museum
The highest point of the Rock
Built into the cliff face on the Rock of Monaco, the Oceanographic Museum devotes its top floor to a vast panoramic terrace. According to the museum, it is the highest point of the building and of the Rock, 85 metres above the Mediterranean. The view runs out to the open sea and Cap Martin on one side, and to the buildings of Monte-Carlo and the hills overlooking the Principality on the other. The terrace is also home to the turtle island and a play area, which makes it a popular stop for families at the end of their visit.
Restaurant, lounge and snack bar
La Terrasse restaurant serves Mediterranean and Italian cuisine at lunchtime. For a shorter break, a lounge area and a snack bar let you have a drink or a bite facing the sea without sitting down for a meal. Visitors' reviews praise the panorama above all; the food and the service are more divisive. So come first and foremost for the view, and book if you are keen to have lunch at a good table.
