Altanera: Mexican cuisine facing the skyline
Two levels turned towards the city
Nothing on Calle Colima hints at what awaits at the top of the building: the lift opens onto a light-filled two-storey restaurant, surrounded by tropical plants and large picture windows. The lower level forms a semi-covered lounge; the upper one, more open, is topped by a retractable roof that is closed in case of showers, without losing the view. Terracotta, wood, plants and pieces by Mexican designers create a warm decor. From almost every table, the view takes in the line of Reforma's skyscrapers, the neighbourhood's foliage and, in the distance, the mountains; after dark, the city lights up behind the windows.
Land, sea and corn
The menu reinvents Mexican classics with a fondness for seafood and wood-fired cooking: shrimp aguachile, guacamole with chicharrón and handmade tortillas, zarandeado fish to share, surf and turf skewer. Among the desserts, the vanilla cake soaked in horchata has its devotees. The signature cocktails give pride of place to Mexican spirits, from mezcal to sotol by way of raicilla.
From lunch to an evening drink
People come here for a long lunch that slips into dinner, for a weekend meal or for a drink at sunset, when the atmosphere becomes more musical. The venue suits dinners for two as well as tables of friends.
