Mandarin Bar: Japanese cocktails above Nihonbashi
On the 37th floor of the Mandarin Oriental
The Mandarin Oriental hotel is located in a tower in Nihonbashi, the former merchants' quarter of Edo, now a business centre. The bar is on the 37th floor. The high-ceilinged room combines dark wood, textured fabrics and soft lighting; low armchairs and round tables line up along huge picture windows, and a backlit counter occupies the far end. In the evening, the neighbouring office towers light up and the city stretches as far as the eye can see behind the glass.
Classics reinvented the Japanese way
The signature cocktails reinvent classics with Japanese ingredients: a manhattan with ume plum, a negroni with cherry blossom and yuzu, an old fashioned with red beans and bamboo leaf, or a martini scented with house tea. A selection of low-alcohol cocktails and mocktails completes the menu, as does a fine collection of Scotch and Japanese whiskies, including casks selected for the hotel. A few dishes and snacks accompany the drinks.
